SC scraps writ petition against Sept 8–9 inquiry commission

    -

The Supreme Court has scrapped a writ petition filed against the chairperson and members of the inquiry commission formed to investigate the September 8–9 Gen Z movement.

A full bench comprising Justices Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, Nahakul Subedi, and Shreekant Paudel issued a directive order dismissing the petition filed against the commission’s chairperson, Gauri Bahadur Karki, and members Bigyan Raj Sharma and Bishweshwar Prasad Bhandari.

Earlier, a division bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Abdul Ajiz Musalman had issued a show-cause order, seeking a written response from the respondents.

Advocate Bipin Dhakal had filed the petition, arguing that the chairperson and members of the commission lacked neutrality and were therefore incapable of conducting a fair investigation.

Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala confirmed that the verdict had been delivered, adding that the directive order would be issued in written form at a later date.
